Packing for a night on the sand
A torch, because the camp lights go off at eleven and the bathroom block is forty metres away. A warm layer from November even when the day was hot, because the river cools the beach the moment the sun goes. Shoes you can get wet. Nothing you cannot get sand in. And no expectation of signal, which is the thing people forget to pack.
Written from the verandah, with a cup of chai going cold.
